Grass / Clover
Grass/clover and lucerne are grown on our farm to reintroduce nitrogen to the soil, increase organic matter in the soil, improve soil structure and decrease the weed population. These crops are ideal after an intensive crop such as potatoes. We sow the lucerne and grass/clover ourselves. The lucerne is grown on contract for a green feed drying plant in the Dutch province of Zeeland. The grass/clover mixture is mown for haylage, baled and wrapped. These haylage bales are sold to local dairy farms and can be delivered to the farms if required. If needed the grass/clover can also be dried and processed.
